Hallie Wallack

Hallie Wallack has been teaching English as a Second Language for over 20 years.  Hallie has a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. Hallie has taught in Colombia, England, Switzerland, and the Dominican Republic.  She enjoys international cuisine and trading recipes with her students.  Hallie has been teaching at the International Language Institute, MD, since 2001. She is the Program Director of the International Language Institute, MD.

Fredrik Skoglund

Fredrik Skoglund is the President of Transemantics, Inc. which owns the International Language Institutes in Maryland and in Washington, DC. Fredrik has a Master's degree in Business Administration and worked as a Financial Analyst for many years before becoming one of the owners of Transemantics, Inc. 

Neidy Rodriguez & Laura Granada

Neidy and Laura are our Admissions Representatives. Both are fluent in Spanish and assist our prospective and current students with questions about any of our programs.

Instructors

Suzanne Iverson

Suzanne Iverson has a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and Linguistics and over 20 years of teaching experience. She has contributed greatly to the development and implementation of the beginning level curriculum. Suzanne is a portrait artist and is interested in folk and choral music. Suzanne has been with our school since 1996.

Laura Wahba

Laura Wahba has over 17 years of teaching experience.  She speaks French, Irish Gaelic and some Russian and Japanese.  Laura studied Russian, Creative Writing and English Literature for her Bachelor’s degree.  She enjoys playing traditional Irish Gaelic songs on a Celtic harp.  Laura has been with us since 1997.

Tina Ricigliano

Tina Ricigliano has a Master's degree in Latin American Studies and more than 20 years of teaching experience. She enjoys her new house, skiing and chauffeuring her two children. Tina has been with the International Language Institute, MD, since 2001.

Nina Liakos

Nina Liakos has over 35 years of teaching experience. She speaks French and some Russian, Greek and Spanish. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Russian Literature, and a Master’s degree from Georgetown in Applied Linguistics. Nina has been with the International Language Institute, MD, since 2003.

Marilyn Schneider

Marilyn Schneider has over 25 years teaching experience. She speaks Spanish and German. She enjoys art, music, history and antiques. Marilyn has been with the International Language Institute, MD, since 2005.

Steven Fleishman

Steven Fleishman is a former Philosophy professor from the University of Maryland and George Washington University.  He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  Steven studied logic, classical languages, and over ten foreign languages.

Nancy Basch Foster

Nancy Basch Foster  has Bachelor’s degrees in Teaching Foreign Languages and in Art History!  Nancy has taught French and Spanish, in addition to English.  Nancy has been with the International Language Institute, MD, since January 2007.

Stephanie Knauer

Stephanie Knauer began teaching at our school in 2006.  In addition to being a dynamic English teacher, Stephanie is also a certified speech pathologist.  Ask her to help you if you have pronunciation problems.

Lu Ann Pengidore

Lu Ann Pengidore has been teaching English as a Second Language for 6 years.  She has a Master’s degree in Education and in Public and International Affairs.  She has studied in Germany, Israel, Austria, and the U.S.  She started here in 2006.

Ann Evans

Ann Evans has a degree in Public Health and also studied German.  She was also a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal!  Ann has been with us since 2006.

Jeremy Lawson

Jeremy Lawson joined our team in 2007.  He studied Spanish and English in college, and has become one of the evening students’ favorite teachers.

Emily Stratton

Emily Stratton has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Creative Writing from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.  She also studied and taught in the Czech Republic.  Emily has been with the International Language Institute, MD, since 2007.
